Bludenz lies in southern Vorarlberg where five valleys meet and is known for its arcades and a long chocolate tradition. This private walk shows the compact old town and tells of life between trade, industry and mountains.

The old town with its arcades, the Upper Gate and St. Lawrence parish church on the hill recalls the days when Bludenz was an important stop on the route over the Arlberg. Gayenhofen Castle was long the seat of the governors.

Chocolate has been made in Bludenz since the late 19th century, and a famous brand is still produced here. Your guide explains why, and how the Alpine milk image came about, with a tasting of store-bought chocolate along the way.

From Bludenz the Montafon, Brandnertal, Klostertal, Grosses Walsertal and Walgau valleys open up. Your guide shares day trip tips and points out views of the surrounding peaks. Kids from about six love the chocolate story.
