In the meantime, there are various tour portals. The most important are:

  • Get your Guide
  • Tripadvisor / Viator
  • Expedia
  • Google Reserve

In addition, you should also be bookable on your own website and perhaps on the pages of the local tourist board.

There are some channel managers that bundle all these functions into one application. The best ones here are Bookingkit, Regiondo, Trekksoft, FareHarbor because they work directly with Google.

We chose Regiondo because they already work with local tourism boards in some regions of Austria and also offered the best price / service package for tour guides.

frequently asked questions

Who is behind this platform?

This platform is operated by Sebastian Frankenberger. He completed his training as a tour guide in Linz in 2006 and passed the exam in 2007. From 2015 to 2019, he served as the industry spokesperson for tour guides in Upper Austria and thus as an elected member of the Sports and Leisure Businesses Professional Group.

The domain austriaguide.at was offered to him by an online retailer in 2017. He immediately forwarded this information to the Federal Economic Chamber, but they declined to purchase it. So he secured the site and is now trying to use it for the tourist guide community and for his business.

austriaguide.at uses the tour store of Regiondo. Therefore, the following basic fees apply:

  • 0,19 € per tour, for open tours per ticket.
  • 1% of the tour / ticket system fee from Regiondo
  • 2% for the payment provider if a payment is made online

Commission to austriaguide.at

  • 5% of the tour / individual ticket

In principle, this portal is available to all certified tourist guides. Since this is a privately operated portal, the operators reserve the right to refuse requests from guides for marketing without giving reasons.

austriaguide.at acts only as an intermediary. The guides place their offers in their own Regiondo account and manage it independently.

The booking is therefore made between the customer and the respective guide. austriaguide.at will not communicate with the customer or use customer data.

  • 1 time a month there is a free webinar from austriaguide.at with many practical tips for enrollment.
  • Regiondo helps all tourist guides to set up their personal store.
  • On www.guide-training.com regularly held training for guides
  • Guides can set any language as bookable in the store. For the time being, however, the tour display appears only in German.
  • This website will be offered only in German until the end of 2020.
  • In the winter months, it is translated into English, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Polish, Czech, Hebrew, Arabic, Chinese, Korean and Japanese.
  • From 2021, the tour offers in the store can then also be displayed in the respective language.
