This private walk takes you through Bad Gleichenberg, the most traditional spa town in Styria, in the heart of the Volcano Land. You enjoy the sprawling spa park and hear how healing springs from volcanic ground made the town famous in the 19th century.
The Romans already knew the springs of Gleichenberg, but the real rise came in the 19th century, when doctors and guests arrived from all over the Habsburg Empire. Villas, spa houses and pump rooms were built, and a generous landscape park was laid out around the springs.
Your guide shows you old trees, fountains and spa buildings and explains how drinking cures, inhalations and social life went hand in hand. You will also learn about the volcanic landscape around the town, the source of its healing waters.
This is a private tour: just your own group, your pace and plenty of time for questions. Our licensed guides are happy to adjust the focus to your interests before the day.

Why does Bad Gleichenberg have healing springs?
The springs are linked to the volcanic past of the region. The water is rich in minerals and was used for drinking cures early on.
