This private tour shows you Friesach, Carinthia's oldest town, with its town walls, castles and the only water-filled town moat left in Austria. You will get a feel for medieval life that still lingers here today.
Friesach was first mentioned in the 9th century and in the Middle Ages was an important trading and minting town owned by the archbishops of Salzburg. The Friesach pfennig was a common currency far beyond Carinthia.
Your guide leads you along the town wall and moat, to the main square and to the castles on the Petersberg. A special experience is the medieval castle building site, where a castle is being built with the tools and methods of the time. Children have plenty to discover.
This is a private tour: just your own group, your pace and plenty of time for questions. Our licensed guides are happy to adjust the focus to your interests before the day.
