This private tour of Grafenegg shows a storybook castle set in a vast landscape park. The Wolkenturm here is also one of Europe's most striking open-air stages.

Grafenegg lies on the edge of the Kamptal valley, just a few kilometers from Krems. In the 19th century the Breuner-Enckevoirth family remodeled an older estate in romantic historicist style, with towers, battlements, oriels and a moat. The result is one of the most important buildings of its kind in Austria.

Around the castle stretches an English landscape park with old trees, meadows and sight lines. In 2007 the Wolkenturm opened in the park, a sculptural open-air stage that rises from the landscape like a wave. Every summer the Grafenegg Festival brings international orchestras here and to the auditorium.

Your guide explains the architecture, garden design and musical life and shows you the loveliest spots in the park.
