Klagenfurt Old Town: Dragon, Courtyards and Hall of Arms
Renaissance charm in Carinthia's capital

This private tour shows you the old town of Klagenfurt with its Renaissance arcaded courtyards, the Lindwurm dragon fountain and the Hall of Arms in the Landhaus. You will see why Klagenfurt is often called the most Italian city in Austria.
Klagenfurt was rebuilt by the Carinthian estates in the 16th century after a fire, with a grid of streets and townhouses in the Italian style. Behind many facades quiet arcaded courtyards survive, which few visitors ever find.
Your guide leads you from Neuer Platz with the Lindwurm, the city's emblem, to Alter Platz and into the Landhaus. There the Hall of Arms displays hundreds of coats of arms of Carinthian noble families, painted by Johann Ferdinand Fromiller. You will also hear the legend of the dragon and stories from the age of the estates.
This is a private tour: just your own group, your pace and plenty of time for questions. Our licensed guides are happy to adjust the focus to your interests before the day.
