Krems is one of Austria's oldest towns and lies at the eastern entrance to the Wachau. Your guide shows you two historic districts that are now one town.
The Steiner Tor gate from the late 15th century is the symbol of Krems. From here your guide leads you along the Landstrasse with its town houses and into lanes where trade, wine and church worked together for centuries. The Gozzoburg tells of the wealth of medieval merchants.
High above the old town stands the Piarist Church with views over the rooftops. Then you continue to Stein, which has grown together with Krems. Its Minorite Church and narrow lanes show the Middle Ages especially vividly.
Krems is also a port of call for many river cruises. The tour combines well with wine or the Art Mile. The tour is private and priced per group.
