This private literary tour of Klagenfurt follows Robert Musil, Ingeborg Bachmann and other writers linked to the city. You will learn why Klagenfurt becomes a meeting place for German-language literature every year.
Robert Musil, author of 'The Man Without Qualities', was born in Klagenfurt in 1880, and his birthplace now houses a literature museum. Ingeborg Bachmann was born here in 1926 and wrote about her Carinthian childhood in many of her works.
Since 1977 Klagenfurt has hosted the Festival of German-Language Literature with the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize, a reading competition broadcast live on television. Your guide links places in town with passages, biographies and anecdotes and also talks about Peter Handke and other Carinthian voices.
This is a private tour: just your own group, your pace and plenty of time for questions. Our licensed guides are happy to adjust the focus to your interests before the day.
