This private excursion takes you to the Zollfeld plain north of Klagenfurt, the historic cradle of Carinthia. You visit the cathedral of Maria Saal, the Duke's Chair and the Magdalensberg with its Celtic and Roman town.

On the Magdalensberg lay one of the oldest Roman settlements in today's Austria, a Roman trading post in the Celtic kingdom of Noricum. The excavations reveal houses, workshops and finds, and the view stretches far across the Klagenfurt basin.

In the Zollfeld stands the Duke's Chair, where the dukes of Carinthia were once invested, a unique legal monument. The Gothic cathedral of Maria Saal with its fortified wall was the starting point for the Christianization of Carantania. Your guide weaves the three sites into one story of how Carinthia began.

The excursion is private and planned around your group. We are happy to discuss transport, how long you would like to spend at each stop and where to take breaks before the day.
