The Wachau is famous for two things: wine and apricots. On this tasting tour in Dürnstein you get to know both.
The Wachau apricot carries a protected designation of origin, and in spring the blossom turns the valley into a sea of white. Your guide explains why the climate between the hills suits the fruit so well and what is made from it, from jam and nectar to liqueur and brandy.
Then it is time for wine. On the terraces above the village grow Grüner Veltliner and Riesling, often counted among Austria's finest white wines. At a winery or wine tavern you taste the Wachau categories Steinfeder, Federspiel and Smaragd.
Between the stops your guide shows you the village with its blue abbey tower. The tour is ideal for wine cruises. The tour is private and priced per group.
