In 1991 the Iceman, a glacier mummy more than 5,000 years old, was found in the Ötztal Alps near the Tisenjoch pass. This private day trip visits the Ötzi Village and the Stuiben Falls, the highest waterfall in Tyrol, and is especially fun for families.
Two hikers discovered Ötzi in the ice. He wore clothes of fur and grass and carried a copper axe and a bow, making him one of the most important archaeological finds of the 20th century.
At the Ötzi Village open-air park in Umhausen, kids from about six see how people lived in the Stone Age. They explore rebuilt huts, old breeds of farm animals and how to make fire without a match.
Nearby, the Stuiben Falls plunge about 150 meters. A trail with bridges and viewing platforms takes you close. On request you can continue toward Sölden and up into the glacier world.
