This private tour of Perchtoldsdorf combines a historic market town with Viennese wine tavern culture. The Gothic defense tower, the vineyards on the edge of the Vienna Woods and a tasting make it a sociable outing.

Perchtoldsdorf borders southern Vienna and is one of the most traditional wine villages in the Thermenregion. Its landmark is the mighty 15th-century defense tower beside the Gothic parish church, which once protected the village from attack. In 1683 Perchtoldsdorf suffered badly during the Ottoman war.

Townhouses and wine taverns with courtyards line the market square. The composer Hugo Wolf wrote many of his songs here, and his home is now a memorial. In autumn the village celebrates the Hütereinzug, an old harvest festival of the vineyard guards.

Your guide leads you through the center up into the vineyards, tells you about winegrowing and Heuriger traditions and finishes with a tasting at a local winery.
