The Pfänder is Bregenz's local mountain and a paradise for families. With your guide the outing becomes a discovery tour for children from about 6.
The Pfänder cable car whisks you to the top in a few minutes. A wide view opens over Lake Constance and, on clear days, to peaks in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. Your guide shows the children how to identify mountains with binoculars and a map.
The Alpine wildlife park is home to ibex, marmots and wild boar. Children get little missions: who spots the first marmot, and how do you tell a red deer from a roe deer? At the eagle observatory, falconers show birds of prey in flight during the season, a moment kids remember for a long time.
The paths at the top are short and easy, with breaks built in. The tour is private and priced per group.
