This private family trip to Rosenburg Castle in the Kamptal valley combines a magnificent Renaissance castle with one of Austria's best-known falconries. Kids see eagles and falcons in flight and discover life in a castle.
Rosenburg Castle sits on a rock high above the Kamp river in the Waldviertel. In the 16th century the medieval fortress became a Renaissance palace with towers, arcades and state rooms. Its huge tournament yard, one of the largest of its kind, once hosted knightly games.
Today Rosenburg is best known for its falconry. During the flight shows eagles, vultures, falcons and owls glide just above the spectators' heads, while the falconers explain how birds of prey live.
Your guide prepares the kids in a playful way, explains armor, castle defense and falconry and invites everyone to guess along. The trip becomes an adventure for children from about six years old.
