Egon Schiele was born in Tulln in 1890, in the railway station his father managed. Your guide follows the traces of his childhood with you.
Schiele's father was stationmaster in Tulln, and the family lived in the station building. Today a memorial there recalls the painter, with a recreated apartment and views of the railway that young Egon loved to draw. Your guide tells you about his childhood, his father's early death and his difficult path to the Vienna Academy.
At the Egon Schiele Museum on the Danube, housed in the town's former prison, you see works and documents from his short life. He died in 1918 of the Spanish flu at just 28. A Schiele trail links the sites around town.
The tour is a perfect complement to Klimt and Schiele in Vienna. The tour is private and priced per group.
