Tulln is one of Austria's oldest towns and even plays a part in the Nibelungenlied. Your guide shows you the history of this garden town on the Danube.
In Roman times the cavalry fort of Comagena stood here on the Danube frontier. Your guide shows you the Roman Tower, one of the oldest surviving Roman structures in Austria, and explains how the river border was guarded.
In the Nibelungenlied, Kriemhild meets Etzel, king of the Huns, in Tulln. The Nibelung Fountain on the riverbank recalls this scene, and your guide tells the dramatic saga of love, betrayal and revenge in a nutshell.
On the main square and along the Danube promenade you experience today's town, which has made a name for itself as a garden town. If you like, add the birthplace of Egon Schiele. The tour is private and priced per group.
