Wachau Family Day: Castles, Ferry and Apricots
A Danube adventure for families with children from about 6

The Wachau is a giant playground for explorers: castles on rocks, a ferry without an engine and apricot trees as far as the eye can see. Your guide plans a day full of little adventures.
A highlight is the river-current ferry between Spitz and Arnsdorf. It crosses without any engine, powered only by the current and held by a cable above the Danube. Your guide lets the children puzzle out how it works before they try it themselves.
Then it is on to one of the castles above the valley, such as Aggstein, where knight stories and an explorer's map await. Along the way children learn why Wachau apricots are so famous and how they become jam, juice and dumplings.
Depending on the season you visit an apricot orchard or a farm shop. Distances are short and breaks are built in. The tour is private and priced per group.
