Lights, punch and holiday traditions in the old town

Vienna Christmas Markets and AdventFoodWien
Duration
2.0 hours

During Advent Vienna turns into a sea of lights with markets on many squares. Your guide takes you to the most charming ones and explains how Austrians celebrate Christmas.

From the grand market in front of City Hall to the small crafts market on Spittelberg, every Christmas market has its own character. You will stroll past stalls with glass ornaments, nativity figures and gingerbread and learn which markets are steeped in tradition and which are newer additions.

Your guide tells you about the Advent wreath, Krampus and St. Nicholas, about the Christkind who brings presents in Austria, and about Christmas at the imperial court. A cup of punch or mulled wine is the perfect way to warm up.

We tailor the route to your wishes, Schönbrunn can be included on request. The markets run roughly from mid-November to 24 December. The tour is private and priced per group.
