This private bike tour from Schärding follows the Inn Cycle Path through one of Upper Austria's most peaceful river landscapes. Along the way you ride between Austria and Bavaria, past wetlands, dams and Baroque churches.
Here the Inn forms the border with Germany, and bridges and dam walkways make it easy to cross between the two countries. The route is mostly flat and manageable for casual riders.
The reservoirs on the lower Inn are an important bird sanctuary, home to herons, cormorants and many waterfowl. Your guide shares stories of the rafting and salt shipping that once shaped the river.
Depending on your preference, you head upstream toward Reichersberg and its Augustinian abbey or downstream toward Passau. Bikes and e-bikes can be rented or arranged on request. There is time for a stop at a riverside inn, paid directly on site.
