The Nordkette range above Innsbruck is perhaps the quickest way from a city into the high Alps: in about half an hour you rise from the old town to more than 2,000 meters. This private tour shows the Karwendel Nature Park and the view over the Inn Valley.

The Hungerburg funicular starts right in town, its flowing stations designed by architect Zaha Hadid. From the Hungerburg the Nordkette cable car continues to the Seegrube at around 1,900 meters and up to the Hafelekar.

At the top a panorama opens over Innsbruck, the Inn Valley and the Stubai Alps, while on the other side lies the wilderness of the Karwendel, Austria's largest nature park. A short path leads to the summit cross of the Hafelekarspitze.

Your guide explains the geology, the chamois and marmots, the climbers and the history of the cable cars from the 1920s. On the way down, a stop at the Alpine Zoo at the Hungerburg is possible.
