How did a Roman soldier live on the Danube, and what did he have for breakfast? On this family tour in Enns children travel back 1,800 years.
A whole legion was once stationed in Lauriacum, thousands of soldiers on the edge of the Roman Empire. Your guide explains in a child-friendly way how a legionary fortress was laid out, how the soldiers trained and why the Danube was such an important frontier.
In the Lauriacum Museum children discover weapons, coins, jewellery and everyday objects. With an explorer's checklist they search for particular finds and guess what they were used for. Who knows what a fibula is?
Outside, your guide shows where the camp stood and lets the children try marching in formation like legionaries. The pace is child-friendly, with breaks. The tour is private and priced per group.
