This private tour shows you Purbach on Lake Neusiedl with its wine cellar lane, its preserved town wall and the legend of the Purbach Turk. It combines local history with winemaking on the slopes of the Leitha hills.
Purbach is one of the few places on Lake Neusiedl that still has an almost complete town wall with gates, built for protection against attacks from the east. On a chimney in the village sits the figure of a Turk, recalling a well-known legend from the Ottoman wars.
Your guide tells how a soldier left behind was found in the chimney and stayed in the village. Then you head to the cellar lane, lined with old press houses. You will hear about Blaufränkisch and Pinot Blanc, Leithaberg wines and local winemaking traditions.
This is a private tour: just your own group, your pace and plenty of time for questions. Our licensed guides are happy to adjust the focus to your interests before the day.
