This private tour shows you Rust on Lake Neusiedl, a free town with colorful townhouses, stork nests on the rooftops and a long winemaking tradition. You will learn how the town bought its freedom with wine.

In 1681 the citizens of Rust gained the status of a royal free town, paid for with money and a large quantity of wine. Rust is still a chartered town today, and its grand townhouses with gateways and courtyards reflect the wealth of the wine trade, especially in the sweet Ruster Ausbruch.

In spring the storks return and nest on many chimneys in the old town. Your guide shows you the Fishermen's Church with its frescoes, the town hall square and the most beautiful courtyards, and explains why Rust is part of the UNESCO World Heritage cultural landscape of Fertő/Neusiedler See.

This is a private tour: just your own group, your pace and plenty of time for questions. Our licensed guides are happy to adjust the focus to your interests before the day.
