This private tour shows you Halbturn Palace in northern Burgenland, one of the region's most important Baroque palaces. You see the palace park and learn how Hildebrandt and Maulbertsch made art history here.
The palace was built in the early 18th century to designs by Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt as a hunting and pleasure lodge; Hildebrandt also built the Belvedere in Vienna. Halbturn later passed to the Habsburgs, and Maria Theresa had it remodeled.
In the great hall a large ceiling fresco by Franz Anton Maulbertsch presents an allegory full of light and movement. Your guide explains the architecture, imagery and garden design and tells how wine and art still shape the estate. In summer it hosts exhibitions and concerts.
This is a private tour: just your own group, your pace and plenty of time for questions. Our licensed guides are happy to adjust the focus to your interests before the day.
