This private architecture tour shows modern Vienna beyond baroque and Art Nouveau. From the Haas House on Stephansplatz to the DC Tower on the Danube, you see how Vienna builds today.
Vienna is known as a city of history, but since the 1980s bold new buildings have appeared. Hans Hollein's Haas House from 1990 reflects St. Stephen's Cathedral in its glass facade and caused heated debate at the time.
On the campus of the Vienna University of Economics in the Prater, international architects designed new buildings, including Zaha Hadid's library and learning center. On the Danube rises Dominique Perrault's DC Tower 1, at about 250 meters the tallest building in Austria. In Seestadt Aspern one of Europe's largest new districts is growing, with the HoHo timber high-rise as its landmark.
Your guide explains ideas, controversies and urban planning, and links the stops conveniently by subway.
