This private bike tour into Vienna's Lobau takes you into the Danube Floodplains National Park, one of the last large river wetlands in Central Europe. You ride through floodplain forest and along quiet backwaters, all inside the city.

The Lobau in the 22nd district is Vienna's part of the Donau-Auen National Park, founded in 1996. Dense floodplain forest, meadows, reeds and still side arms alternate here. Beavers, kingfishers, herons and many kinds of dragonflies live in this habitat.

The Lobau is also a place of history. In 1809 Napoleon used the island as a base for his troops before the battles of Aspern and Wagram. Memorial stones still recall those days.

Your guide leads you on quiet, mostly flat paths through the reserve, explains how floods shape the forest and shows you swimming spots like the Dechantlacke. Bikes, including e-bikes, can be rented or arranged on request.
